Replying on Local Announcements

Postby Vaughn on Tue Jul 07, 2009 4:45 pm

Lately I've been finding myself wanting to comment on some of this site's local announcements only to find I'm not allowed to! Is this an intentional decision on your part where you don't want people commenting on news and press releases from the city? If so, I respect your decision, but I think it would be a great forum (PUN  ) to discuss things. What's your thoughts?

Oops! Thanks for the heads-up on that. I'll change the permissions today sometime to allow comments. Perhaps for some reason I thought there shouldn't be comments (maybe I was on crack or something?) but I see absolutely no reason why they shouldn't be allowed in that section.

Okay, I believe I have the forum permissions fixed, when you're around next give it a try and see if they work now. Would be cool to get some discussions happening based on the city's public notices.

I tried to reply on some of them a couple days ago, but I got a message saying "Do not have the proper permissions..." on one of them, and on the other "...Needs to be approved...", not sure why two different messages on different topics, maybe the date difference?

Thanks for your help with this. I *think* everything is alright now. I made a test account and was able to post replies to that forum right away including to forums you needed permissions to before.

On the plus side, there hasn't been a spammer who made it through registration since the end of July! Took even me 2 tries before I passed the CAPTCHA which is a little annoying, but hopefully people will be able to get through it without too much nuisance.
